NPCs: The Universe’s Background Noise

Irony#29

(aka: The reason your eyes glaze over in supermarkets)

Let’s talk about Non-Player Characters, not the digital kind.
The real ones.
Walking, blinking, breathing carriers of microscopic consciousness, coded to say things like:

• “That’s just how life is.”
• “Don’t overthink it.”
• “Have you tried being more positive?”
• “I saw it on the news, so…”

These are the souls who wake up every day not to live, but to load.
They run on default scripts, social validation, and vague diet trends.
They fear change unless it’s an update in their favorite app.
And spiritual awakening?
Too glitchy. Might interrupt dinner.

Behavioral Patterns of NPCs:

  • Instinctively repeat mainstream phrases with no internal processing
  • Become deeply distressed if you express an original thought
  • Rage when their programming is questioned
  • Worship authority, status, and oat milk
  • Treat emotional depth like a customer service complaint

Why do they do it?
Because their consciousness is set to “minimum required for illusion.”
They were built to populate density, not question it.
To provide resistance, not reflection.
To test your clarity, not to hold it.

NPCs exist so you can practice restraint while your soul itches to scream,

“You are not a person. You are a feedback loop wearing sneakers.”

Remember:
You are not here to wake them up.
You are here to walk past them like a myth.
Let them glitch. Let them scoff. Let them blink blankly at the truth like it’s buffering.

They’re not evil.
They’re just… buffering forever.
